Allison Sigmon
I joined the College of Health and Humans Services in January 2024, but have been part of Niner Nation for a long time! I graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2008 and spent ten years prior to this role working as an advisor in the Belk College of Business. Prior to coming back to campus, I worked at Queens University of Charlotte supporting admissions and advising efforts for adult undergraduate students.
Degrees
I graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies (Health focus). In 2010, I earned a Master of Education in Counselor Education (Student Affairs) from Clemson University.
Advice to Students
Take advantage of your resources and ask for help when you need it! I also think it’s important to get involved. Your connection outside of the classroom (internship, volunteer work, student clubs) can provide comradery as you face college challenges and helps you develop important soft skills. As an advisor, I strive to empower you to do these things!
About Me
I grew up in Caldwell County (about an hour northwest of here) and am proud of my North Carolina roots. Most weekends you’ll find me on a ball field cheering on my young son or coloring with my daughter at home. By marriage, I’m a Duke basketball fan and we love to support the Carolina Panthers, Clemson Tigers, and Charlotte 49ers! You may also find me trying a new restaurant with friends or hitting up a good deal.
