DeJanae Hayes
I joined UNC Charlotte College of Health & Science in June 2020. My higher education experience consist of Advising and Student Development, Retention Initiatives, Recruitment, University and Nursing Admissions, and Teaching. In my previous experience before joining Charlotte, I served as an Academic Advisor for Texas Woman’s University (TWU) College of Nursing Houston Center. I am passionate about student development and guiding students to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Degrees
I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Nonprofit with an emphasis in Budget and Finance in 2015. A few years later, I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership Higher Education Student Affairs and a Graduate Certification in Academic Advising in 2018.
Advice to Students
As my father once told me, “Do not let your pride be the one thing that holds you back from asking for help.” It’s okay to ask for help when you need it the most. College can be really exciting and tough, but always remember that you got this! All of the hard work will pay off – Believe it!
About Me
I am a proud native from the Water Winter Wonderland! I grew up in Detroit, Michigan. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with loved ones, shopping, traveling, reading fictional books, binge-watching shows or watching documentaries, painting, and fall/winter outdoor activities.
I am excited to serve our CHHS students!
