Statement from Dean Fey-Yensan on Recent Events in Charlotte

Categories: CHHS News

In light of the recent tragedies and events in the Charlotte region and across the country, I want to affirm that we in the College of Health and Human Services stand on the principle that diversity is the centerpiece of excellence, and that it is our collective responsibility to build and support an inclusive, respectful and compassionate community in which acts of discrimination, profiling or animus based on personal characteristics or beliefs are not tolerated.

For decades, college campuses have stood as spaces where important issues can be discussed safely and freely. The College supports faculty members and students who wish to dedicate class time to discuss current issues and affirms the rights of members of the campus community to express their concerns in peaceful protest.
